At the ZAC Foundation, we believe that addressing the crisis of drowning requires a whole community approach. This year, we’ve hosted community-focused roundtables to discuss this critical issue and pilot the development of a Drowning Prevention Action Plan in four communities: Chicago, St. Louis, Fairfield County, CT, and Central Texas. In partnership with the Boys & Girls Club, we’ve convened key local leaders and stakeholders to identify the realities—including opportunities and challenges—specific to their region. Longer term, we hope that these plans will form a foundation for building a national drowning prevention model.

Our goal is to create a generational shift in how water safety is viewed by children, parents and community leaders through advocacy, education, access, and community-wide engagement. In 2019, the ZAC Foundation will host discussions in the following areas.
